How to Utilise Your Spare Time

Recession is expected to be the longest since the post-WWII. That means more people may lose their jobs as more companies will not be able to cope with the increased losses.

Experts believe that career driven jobs will only go back in 2010. That means that 2009 is never a good year for your career. You might end up as a temp or working in a part-time job.

These jobs are almost dead-end jobs that do not offer any career advancement. As a fresh graduate, you might have to put-off that career for a couple of months because of the current economic breakdown.

Although you might not find your dream job or preferred career this year, you have all the time in the world to improve so that you will increase your chances of being hired. You can do this while working in a simple job which will keep you busy but fully prepared for the future.

There are actually tons of activities that you can do to improve your career once recession is over. But there are some things that you can do in your spare time with little to no cost at all.

There will always be a time which will find a use for specific skill you have just acquired. It could be a job related to that small talent or even a business based skill on your newly acquired knowledge.

You can always get serious training if you want to but they might be a little bit expensive especially if you only have a minimum-wage job. But these relatively expensive training will definitely go a long way.

Even if you just write about it one or twice a week, you can slowly gain some grounds in terms of your knowledge in the industry. You might become one of the well known bloggers in the industry that you could become a full time blogger.

It is one of the best jobs you can actually gain because of your expertise in a specific subject.

Volunteering

Volunteering could be beneficial not only for those you serve but also for you. By being a volunteer, you connect to a lot of people and meet same minded individuals who can help you in your career.

If you do not find someone out there who can help you, can still use this experience as part of your resume. Companies always like the idea that their employees are working hard even with no monetary return.
